Mascara Mystery Solved

I have tried an enormous amount of mascara in my life. I'm still not loyal to any particular brand, though I do have a few faves and many, many that I will never touch again! I think you will find this list useful, as there are many brands at many price points! To me, a good mascara thickens AND lengthens, and that is what I always go for! Oh, and I should add that I only use BLACK mascara!

My rating scale is completely arbitrary, as you will soon learn, but I think it does the job :)

Best of the Best
Fresh Supernova (Sephora)

This is my favorite mascara. It has an amazing brush, that lengthens & thickens, it lasts a long time before drying out, and it is also so good for applying multiple coats, something a lot of mascaras lack. The nice thing about this brand is that they have a mini 2-pack (Supernova + Firebird, which is good, not great) so you can try it out first, though I doubt you'll need to!

Best
Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion (Shoppers, etc...)

This mascara is certainly the best value out of all of these mascaras. It does everything it touts, and it is what I am currently using!!

Dior Diorshow (Sephora, The Bay)

Yes, this mascara is as good as they say. The only negative I find is that sometimes it flakes off during the day (or night), so keep an eye out for that!!

Worst
Any Clinique Mascara (it pains me to say this, and it is not a reflection of their other products, which I enjoy)

I have never been impressed by their mascara, it just doesn't seem to do anything but darken my lashes. I always try and give it another go (my mom always has their free samples), but just can't do it!

Sephora Collection Triple Action

Just not good. And it smells weird.

The Best of the Rest
Benefit BADgal Lash (Sephora, The Bay, Shopper's)

Korres Deep Color Mascara (Sephora)

If your favorite mascara isn't on this list, let me know, I'll never give up my search!

Winter Skin

Anyone from Calgary (and many other places I am sure) knows how dry the weather here makes your skin. I have tried so many different lotions, shower gels and scrubs in the hopes of finding something to stop the itchy, red skin and leave something lovely underneath. After years of trying I can finally say I have found what I have been searching for: Kiehl's Creme de Corps line. I was gifted it for Christmas by some very generous friends, and can definitely say it has done wonders for my winter skin! And the plus: it smells AMAZING!

I have been relying on the LotionWhipped Body ButterBody Polish & Washing Creme.

Enjoy!

Winter Wardrobe

Taking advantage of sales (sometimes) is the thing to do at this time of year. Stores are trying to get their old stock out and promote the new. This means lots of great sales and promos.

I've had my eye on a few of these pieces for a while, and the others jumped into my hands right when I saw them.

I try to buy a few key pieces that can transition seasons and go from work to dinner, drinks and dancing easily! Some things are just for fun!

The L.A.M.B. clutch will be perfect for going out. I think it will go perfect with a great pair of heels and dark, dark jeans!

L.A.M.B. Clutch Isabelle brought me from Saks

It is pretty much essential to buy new leggings every season. They lose their shape and colour after a while, and this way you can cut them to the length you like. Also, the thick waist band on these one's from Aritzia is the most flattering I have found. It sits nice and flat under even the tightest of tops!

Black TnA Leggings

New jeans- enough said.

Bootcut William Rast Jeans

This cardigan is so comfortable, and looks great over jeans or dress pants. A nice light cami underneath is all you need. The brown and silver belt gives it a touch of luxury!

MICHAEL Michael Kors Cardigan

I have wanted this blazer since I saw it on the website a few weeks ago- thankfully they still had my size when I went to use my coupon today! It is sweatshirt material, but still very structured and since it isn't lined I can wear it into the summer. I see this one with a pair of light grey pants and some cute flats!

Navy & White Banana Republic Blazer

I bought these earrings specifically to go with the blazer. I think the coral will look amazing with the navy in the jacket- adding just a pop of color!

Coral and CZ Juicy Couture Earrings (notice the little butterfly!)

Big sale at Nine West- couldn't pass it up!

Nine West Snakeskin Pumps

Nine West Black Patent Pumps

These pieces should wear well during the winter months. I am still on the hunt for a few more key pieces, including a blush colored cami and brown loafers!

Wish me luck :)

Sock Bun

I can across an article saying that the sock bun would change your life. I scoffed at that and forgot about it. I desperately needed something nice to do with my hair for a wedding reception, and decided to youtube how to do a sock bun. It is super easy, and can make any bad a hair day a good one! My only extra tip to add to the video is, make sure your hair is brushed before. I tried to do it this morning before brushing my hair and it was a rat's nest disaster.

This vid is my favorite because it is short and the girl is cute! Give it a try
